On November 19, World Virtual Reality Day (VR Day), we highlight how this technology, beyond entertainment, has become a powerful tool for promoting social inclusion, supporting education, and enhancing people’s emotional well-being.
At Suara Cooperativa, Virtual Reality is a key ally for bringing cultural and emotional experiences closer to people with reduced mobility or those living in situations of social isolation. Projects such as REVIVE, developed with Broomx and the Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, enable us to offer immersive sessions that stimulate cognitive and physical well-being, foster social interaction, and help combat unwanted loneliness.
New Immersive Applications at the Service of People
This year, we continue exploring and deploying new immersive applications that reinforce our commitment to supporting and caring for people.
Mental Health
We are incorporating virtual and immersive environments into therapeutic processes for adolescents and young people. Projects such as EMOTIO and the RESILIENTS pilot are outstanding examples.
The study conducted jointly with Hospital Sant Joan de Déu has shown a significant impact on the emotional well-being of young participants:
- 67% have reduced interpersonal conflicts.
- 83% have autonomously managed their medication.
- 66% have independently managed their medical appointments.
This innovative intervention is becoming a powerful tool for strengthening the therapeutic bond, reducing emotional distress, and supporting trauma recovery processes.
Workplace Well-being
We design immersive mindfulness programs that help reduce stress and anxiety among workers, creating emotional rest and regulation spaces that enhance both individual and collective well-being.
Cultural and Memory Experiences
Through memory and reminiscence work, we offer virtual journeys that allow people to relive experiences and memories that would be difficult to access due to physical or health limitations.
At the same time, at Suara we have created immersive stories to support children and early childhood in emotional learning. Immersive rooms allow children to experience stories from within, surrounded by images and sounds that generate deep emotional engagement.
This educational approach supports:
- Identification with characters.
- Understanding and expression of emotions.
- Emotional regulation in a safe environment.
- Empathy, communication, and cooperation in shared experiences.
Narrative immersion transforms learning into a meaningful experience—key for developing essential emotional skills for present and future well-being—while also improving attention and concentration.
Immersive Physiotherapy
The immersive physiotherapy program at Suara Cooperativa, implemented in services supporting people over the age of 65, is showing very positive impacts both physically and emotionally.
The combination of guided movement and stimulating visual and sound environments:
- Increases motivation and participation in exercise.
- Reduces pain and fatigue perception..
- Improves balance, mobility, and strength.
- Reduces social isolation and feelings of dependency.
- Strengthens self-esteem and emotional well-being.
In shared environments, immersive physiotherapy also enhances interaction and bonding between participants, contributing to an overall improvement in quality of life.
Alliances to Democratize Immersive Technology
Collaborations with universities, research centers, and technology partners remain essential for developing valuable proposals and democratizing access to immersive technology. This is especially relevant for third-sector organizations, which often face limited resources but generate a strong social impact.
A Transformative and Accessible Technology
Virtual Reality is no longer just the future—it is a transformative tool that connects people, fosters inclusion, and opens new opportunities for everyone. It helps break social and technological barriers and places people at the center of innovative solutions.
On this World Virtual Reality Day, we celebrate how immersive technology can become a bridge to a more inclusive, healthy, and accessible world.
