Immersive reality for mental health and emancipation of young people

Resilients, is a project to improve the mental health of former young people who are ex -set in the process of uninstitutionalization, using the immersive room as a tool for psychosocial and therapeutic support. The study in collaboration with the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital, funded by the 2nd Call of the HISS (HUB of social and health innovation), analyzes the immersive reality as an effective tool in order to provide them with emotional, personal, and cognitive resources. This is done to facilitate their transition to adulthood successfully.

The immersive reality enables an experiential environment where more controlled and assumed scenes of real life can be reproduced.
It is an innovative and individualized project to work on the personal capacities of young people, and to accompany them in their fears and traumas, key aspects of facing the challenges of adulthood. The test, designed from the social and health integration model, allows the multidisciplinary team to accompany the psychosocial needs of young people through a program designed by the Suara Cooperativa team, following a theoretical model of traumatherapy: tune and self-regulation, empowerment and resilient reintegration.

Innovation with evidence

The project is developed in 5 phases:

  • Experimental design (planning and setting of equipment and sample).
  • Intervention (data collection and personalization of contents).
  • Analysis of results.
  • Dissemination of the results.

After 10 months, young people are expected to have more resources, improving their self -regulation, routine planning, cognitive resources, as well as, the quality of their social network and the ability to communicate and repair traumas. In parallel, and as a second objective, a participatory process will be carried out with young people in order to create useful audiovisual resources for future participants.

The exhibition will include a total of 7 participants who are part of the projects with Acompanya'm (4 young people of 16-18), and post-Acompanya'm (3 young people over the age of 18). They aim to develop support communities for the emancipation of young people with mental disorder, in order to accompany them and facilitate full integration into adulthood.

Transformation and integrated care

The collaboration between Suara Cooperativa and the Sant Joan de Déu Hospital was born with the aim of transforming psychosocial care and fostering social and health integration. This creates a model that unites efforts for youth empowerment and the improvement of the emotional well-being of young people.
