On the occasion of 25-N, between yesterday and today a dozen women, including people served and workers, from the Bauma service, managed by Suara Cooperativa and Càritas, have distributed posters and leaflets in Barcelona with a decalogue on how to act in the face of sexist violence.

The eradication of sexist violence is not an option, but an unpostponable social imperative that falls on all citizens. In the framework of November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we are making a qualitative leap: we are not satisfied with awareness. This social scourge demands our decisive action.

For this reason, this Monday we launched a strategic initiative designed to empower and provide concrete tools to the whole of society, whether as a woman suffering from gender-based violence who needs urgent support or as a witness who has a duty to intervene, so it is necessary to know how to act effectively to break the cycle of violence. Indifference is not an option: responsibility is collective and the response must be immediate and forceful.

For this reason, between yesterday and today, from the Bauma shelter, jointly managed by Suara Cooperativa and Diocesan Caritas of Barcelona, we have organized an action that consists of traveling to shops, entities or public facilities with maximum traffic in the city of Barcelona where we have hung posters and handed out information leaflets with a QR code.

Around ten women, including people receiving care and workers, have participated in this action that took place yesterday in the districts of Horta and Gràcia, while today they will go to Sarrià - Sant Gervasi. Among the facilities where the action took place yesterday are the Horta market and Passeig Maragall.

Beyond the expertise of the professionals in this service, the content of the decalogue is enriched with the contribution of professionals from specialized services and services that have the responsibility of activating protection circuits.

Campaign Objectives

The main objective of the campaign is to be able to activate and align the entire community network so that women in situations of violence can receive effective, coherent and present protection both in private and specialized spaces and in their daily lives in the public space. Therefore, the aim is to create a community, institutional and professional network that acts in a coordinated manner, with a clear and coherent message while at the same time ensuring that people who witness an attack in a public space know how to act or address themselves at the time of the crisis. In short, the aim is to articulate the community so that it acts as a protective agent.

This November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we want to join the entire community to end this scourge, since the safety and recovery of women depends on the cohesion and co-responsibility of the entire society.
