These young people are offered a comprehensive and community intervention, which has been possible thanks to the support of Dipsalut, the Public Health agency of the Girona Provincial Council.
This 2025, Suara Cooperativa has assisted 41 young people in a situation of homelessness and risk of social exclusion in the Girona region, of which 16 of them have been accompanied to the Sostre 360º service in Alt Empordà (Figueres) and 25 more to the Sostre 360º service in Gironès (Salt).
The Sostre 360º services, of which Suara Cooperativa manages another in Maresme, offer a long-term response to young people who are homeless with the aim of empowering them so that they can build their life projects according to their rhythms, needs and realities. Therefore, the first challenge is to achieve a stable roof, which gives them the security of being able to achieve other challenges such as training or a socio-labor insertion project.
In the case of the Sostre 360º services in Alt Empordà and Gironès, this year these 41 young people have been able to be served thanks to the financial support of DipSalut, the Public Health Agency of the Girona Provincial Council, which grants a subsidy to those entities that have projects with young people at risk of social exclusion.
Comprehensive and community-based intervention
Beyond covering basic needs such as food, access to housing or support in processing documentation, Sostre 360º also promotes a comprehensive and community-based social care intervention with emotional and educational support that promotes their socio-labor insertion in the territory.
It should be noted that the majority of these young people are former guardians who, once they turned 18, had to leave the service where they were cared for or come from situations of homelessness. Many of them, nearly 98%, suffer the stigma of being of migrant origin, as well as the trauma of migratory grief or living on the streets. All of this means that they have difficulty managing their emotions while having low education and difficult access to the labor market.
In addition, Suara Cooperativa promotes a support model that puts the person at the center and empowers them through decision-making so that they can lead their life projects, as is also done with the young people we support with the Sostre 360º services.
Therefore, when a young person accesses this resource, they are assigned a reference person with whom, once the basic needs are covered; a specific plan is worked out for each of the people served so that, according to their interests, reality or abilities, they can achieve their emancipation with a life project that guarantees socio-labor insertion.
