A commitment to the paradigm of good treatment, prevention and accompaniment to trauma in the protection system.

On May 16, the team of the Therapeutic Welfare Space, a service managed by Suara Cooperativa, participated in the training day "How to accompany the trauma from the residential field?", Promoted by the Residential Services Commission of Fedaia. The session, of a theoretical-practical nature, brought together about seventy professionals from all over the territory with the aim of sharing knowledge and intervention strategies with children and adolescents who have experienced trauma situations.

The formation was based on the principles of child and jurisdiction, according to the paradigm of good treatment developed by Jorge Barudy and Maryorie Dantagnan, an approach that places the bond, care and protection as the central axes of therapeutic and educational intervention.

A structured day in three blocks

During the session, three fundamental areas for work were addressed from residential services:

  • Syntonization and self -regulation: Tools were exposed to promote the neurophysiological stability of children, such as sleep and hunger records, games to identify emotions, stories and sensory materials. It was reflected on the most common defense mechanisms derived from trauma, such as dissociation or somatization.
  • Emotional empowerment: The importance of an intervention that promotes conscious emotional management, through resources such as symbolic play, educational modeling, use of stories and card games, and the presence of stable adult figures as benchmarks.
  • Resilient reintegration: It deepened strategies such as narrative therapy or the work of life story, always from a context of protection and when the person is ready to address the story of their experience.

The day ended with the review of practical cases, with the aim of formulating educational objectives adapted to the maturation age and not only in the chronological age. This is a key practice to guarantee realistic, consistent, and respectful interventions with the needs of children and adolescents.
