The report Diagnosis 22. The situation of homelessness in Barcelona. Evolution and relationship with the labor market has been presented this February. This report is part of a series published periodically by the Barcelona City Homeless Care Network, of which Suara Cooperativa is an active member.
Carlos Prieto and Maite Mauricio, Suara professionals who are part of the Diagnosis and Count Commission, have participated in the preparation of the report and the organization of the 2021 Count whose data is published.
The diagnosis confirms that for people living in a situation of homelessness, the fact of working or having income from benefits is no guarantee of being able to overcome the situation. It also shows that income, in many cases, is insufficient to meet the current cost of living. This means that entities in the city of Barcelona, in some cases, are giving cash aid.
The coordinator of the Commission announced that they are working on the organization of the Count 2023 in Barcelona, which this year will be held on the night of May 17. It has been announced that the participation of volunteers will again be counted on, and calls on organizations to promote the participation of more people.
