Today, October 10, in commemoration of International Mental Health Day, young people treated by the Suara Cooperativa services have carried out a participatory dynamic to express the aspects and experiences that generate emotional well-being. Through images, drawings and other artistic creations they have shared what makes them feel good, giving shape to their desires, needs and worries.

Exhibition of Works and Importance of Mental Health

From the Building Thought of Child and Youth Mental Health, we share with you the works and from this participatory activity. Over the last few days the services have invited young people to reflect and create different proposals about what makes them feel good, reflecting very clearly the protective factors such as bonds, security or leisure, which guarantee their emotional well-being.

“The young people have been able to delve into the personal and social factors that take care of mental health, as well as share their favorite activities, such as doing sports, listening to music, reading or spending time with friends and family.” Farala Ventura, director of Pis Sènia managed by the cooperative.

The dynamics have been very well accepted. We used paints and textures so that the young people could express their feelings in a comfortable way. During the activity, they showed great concentration, and the results clearly reflect their feelings, which is essential for their emotional well-being,” explains Caterina Valls from Pis Labèrnia.

She also highlighted that the canvases created were meaningful. “One young person painted the flag of his country, another left the prints of his hands as a representation of his family, and a third expressed the desire for freedom. The whole process was a valuable learning experience for the educational team,” continues Caterina Valls from Pis Labèrnia.

Exhibition «Fragments of Life»

As part of this commemoration, the LleidaJove auditorium will host the exhibition “Fragments of Life” from October 7 to November 7. This artistic proposal, created by young migrants cared for by Suara’s PILs, seeks to bring their reality closer to the local population. The exhibition is the result of an activity of self-knowledge and personal growth, where young people answer, through the collage technique, questions such as: Who am I? How am I? What is important to me? What am I passionate about?

This exhibition not only allows young people to explore their identity, but also promotes dialogue between cultures and helps reduce the stigma associated with mental health experiences. As Susana Benabarre, director of PILs and coordinator of the Coolthinkers project, points out, “it has been a unique opportunity to connect cultures, emotions and perspectives through art.”
