A group of 18 workers from different services of Suara Cooperativa, and led by Lucia Lopez Outon and Karim Bennaser, carried out experiential training in northern Morocco.
During their visit, which took place at the end of September, the team had the opportunity to learn about and collaborate with several projects focused on caring for people in vulnerable situations, with a main focus on education and social inclusion.
One of the projects visited was the Association of Women, Adolescents and Girls (CRAE Noies), dedicated exclusively to girls in vulnerable situations, offering comprehensive care with a focus on protection, literacy and emotional support. This center seeks to empower girls through educational and personal development programs to reduce social exclusion
In the area of inclusion, they also visited the YAHYA Association, which offers specialized services for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The association provides assessments, diagnoses and early care, as well as intervention programs for adolescents, with the aim of improving their quality of life and their integration into society.
Another outstanding project was the Rural School (Project Pou Transformation of the Environment), committed to improving literacy in remote areas, as well as offering access to an equitable education in rural areas of Morocco, which is very unequal compared to urban areas. The workers of Suara Cooperativa learned first hand the efforts to reduce this educational gap, focusing on supporting girls and communities with fewer resources.
Despite the progress, the challenges remain immense. Rural communities face a lack of adequate infrastructure, teacher shortages and transportation difficulties for students to get to school. In addition, problems such as poverty and child labor prevent many children from regularly attending classes.
Finally, the group learned about the work of the Ecodel Association (Ecodel pour le Développement Équitable), an organization dedicated to combating social exclusion and poverty in disadvantaged areas. Ecodel carries out literacy activities, professional training and support for income-generating projects, promoting values such as equality, tolerance and democracy in the region.
This formative experience not only allowed the Suara workers to get to know the reality of these projects up close, but also to strengthen the bonds of solidarity and international cooperation in favor of education and social inclusion in vulnerable communities.
