Suara Cooperativa launches the "Women who decide" campaign, where eight women from the organization talk about the importance of women occupying decision-making positions while showing the difficulties they face in getting there and calling for labor and social improvements to guarantee equal opportunities at work.

The campaign, which starts this Friday, March 1, with a video by the co-director general, Laura Peracaula, will consist of the publication for eight consecutive days of testimonial videos of different women who work at Suara Cooperativa. The latter will be published on March 8, coinciding with International Working Women's Day.

As part of the campaign, different key topics will be addressed such as, for example: how to promote female leadership; the importance of family reconciliation policies and co-responsibility in the care of a family member; the vital work done by women who work in the care sector and their lack of recognition, as well as the effects of intersectionality such as gender, origin, culture or sexual identity when looking for work .

Currently, according to the annual study by the Eada business school and the company ICSA, there are only 8.8% of women in the positions of general management of companies in the Spanish state. A very different reality from that of Suara Cooperativa where they represent 78% of the Strategic Management Council and 75% of the Governing Council.

"At Suara Cooperativa we are proud to say that we have female leadership, a leadership where decision-making is balanced, innovative and solid", assures Laura Peracaula.

In fact, another of the key issues that will be addressed is how cooperatives can contribute to this necessary social transformation so that women have the same opportunities in the world of work as men and assume leadership and decision-making positions. A good example of this is that they are 52% of the management positions in Catalan cooperatives, according to the barometer of the Federation of Labor Cooperatives of Catalonia.

"Our cooperative model is a reference when it comes to creating spaces where women assume leadership roles, make decisions and, therefore, contribute the gender perspective to social transformation", says Laia Bonastra, president of the Governing Council of Suara Cooperative

Social transformation undoubtedly implies that women can enjoy the same job opportunities as men and, therefore, that they can access not only similar jobs, but also leadership or decision-making positions.

For this reason, this year's 8-M campaign, under the label #DonesQueDecideixen, Suara Cooperativa will show different measures through which these objectives can be achieved, as well as to highlight the contribution of women to the world of work and in decision-making positions through the testimonies of female workers in the organization. In the coming days, keep an eye on Suara Cooperativa's social networks. "We are women who decide. And you, what do you decide?”
