The “Therapeutic Home Support” project, developed by Suara Cooperativa and Grupo Oroi as part of the Social Digital Lab, highlights the potential of virtual reality to improve the emotional and cognitive well-being of older adults and/or people with support needs
On 22 April, Suara Cooperativa and Grupo Oroi took part in the Mostra Tecnològica, held in the Plenary Hall of Castellbisbal Town Council, where they presented this innovative virtual reality-based therapeutic home support initiative.
The presentation was delivered by Erika Álvarez, Director of Customer Experience and Marketing at Grupo Oroi, and Natalia Alonso, Head of Immersive Reality at Suara Cooperativa, who shared the main learnings and results of the pilot project.
A space for innovation in health and well-being
The event brought together representatives from local administrations and technology initiatives linked to health and well-being. This meeting space fostered the exchange of experiences, the generation of knowledge and the identification of new opportunities for collaboration in the field of social innovation.
Results from a pilot project with impact
The pilot project involved more than 170 people supported and included the training of around thirty professionals from the cooperative.
The results show that virtual reality has strong potential to support emotional well-being, promote relaxation and stimulate cognitive abilities, especially among older adults and/or people with support needs, within a close, personalised and person-centred care model.
Technology with a social perspective
This experience reinforces the role of the Social Digital Lab as a space for driving solutions with social impact and highlights how virtual reality, when applied with purpose and from a person-centred perspective, can contribute to improving quality of life and transforming care and support services.
Suara Cooperativa and Grupo Oroi remain committed to developing innovative solutions that place people at the centre and respond to emerging social challenges.
Acknowledgements
Both organisations would like to thank Castellbisbal Town Council for organising this event and for creating a space for reflection on the role of innovation in social transformation.
