The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Youth and Children, Rubén Pérez, visited the facilities of SPAAI Castell de Fang in Piera, managed by Suara Cooperativa, during a visit where he highlighted solidarity in the redistribution of young migrants across the autonomous communities of Catalonia and the Basque Country.
The Secretary of State for Children and Youth, Rubén Pérez, visited the SPAAI Castell de Fang service, located in Piera and managed by Suara Cooperativa, to learn firsthand about our care and support model for young people and to analyze the current situation of the child and adolescent protection system.
The visit, led by Rubén Pérez, Secretary of State for Children and Youth, was attended by Esther Vallbona, Deputy Director General of Protection at the DGPPIA; Ana Bessa, Head of the Care Service for Unaccompanied Young Migrants at the DGPPIA; and Gemma Millán Gibert, Councilor for Children at Piera City Council.
On behalf of Suara Cooperativa, the delegation was accompanied by the Client Area Director, Laia Planagumà Navarro; the Operational Director of the Client Area, Lucía López Outón; and the Director of SPAAI Castell de Fang, Abdeslam Ben El Fassi Mezouar.
The day began with a tour of the center's facilities, which allowed the Secretary to see firsthand the living spaces and the daily educational support and integration work carried out there.
Subsequently, a working meeting was held between the institutional representatives and Suara's executive team. During the gathering, needs in the field of child protection were shared, creating a space for joint reflection on the reality and scale of the protection system across the different territories of the State.
Rubén Pérez emphasized the role of Catalonia and the Basque Country as benchmarks in fulfilling solidarity quotas and hosting young migrants. Likewise, Pérez shared his concern regarding the vulnerable situation faced by children and young people in Ceuta, especially girls and young women, explaining the ongoing efforts to resolve the situation and calling for shared responsibility across all autonomous communities.
To conclude the institutional visit, one of the young residents of SPAAI Castell de Fang presented the Secretary with a self-made gift: a painting created at the center as a gesture of appreciation for the meeting and the support provided to the service.
