Els Picarols municipal nursery school of Manlleu, managed by Suara Cooperativa, commemorates this year its 10th anniversary. To celebrate it, last Saturday, October 5, the center organized a festive event open to everyone, especially to the families that have passed through the center as well as the educational community.
Throughout the day different activities took place, like workshops of makeup and bubbles as well as a children’s show. The event was chaired by the Mayor of Manlleu, Àlex Garrido, the director of the school, Elisabet Torrents, and the representative of Suara Cooperativa, Laia Planagumà. Torrents emphasized that Els Picarols is "an open, cozy, plural and innovative school", constantly considering what can be done to improve the educational quality of children.In these 10 years of existence the growth of the school has been constant. The center started with 3 classrooms, in September 2009, and currently there are 7 classrooms, despite the global drop in children in nursery schools. The pedagogical line of the educational team has also been reinforced, maintaining as basic pillars the educational intent and individualized attention at all times and situations that children live on a day to day basis at school.
Els Picarols has also been a pioneer in the environmental field since it was one of the first educational centers to obtain the green school badge.
