The headquarters of Suara Cooperativa in Barcelona has been hosting the new digital home of the Independent Life Center since this autumn. This is the center for personal autonomy in Catalonia and the main project of the Independent Life Association, a non-profit third sector social organization declared to be of public benefit of which Suara is a promoting partner.
The digital home is one of the most powerful tools when it comes to valuing people and their day-to-day life. It is a completely accessible and digital home, equipped with the latest developments in assistance home automation, combined with the simplest solutions, so that people can see and try all the support products available on the market.
The institutional opening ceremony took place last October 6 and was attended by, among others, the general secretary of the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat, Dolors Rusinés, and by the commissioner of Barcelona City Council Social Action, Sònia Fuertes.
The co-director general of Suara Cooperativa, Laura Peracaula, emphasized in her speech that "the completion of this project is another example of Suara's determination, with a clear commitment to mutual cooperation, to join the efforts of different organizations to work together with the improvement of people's well-being, putting them at the center and thus contributing to deploying the model of integrated home care in Catalonia".
For her part, the president of the Independent Life Association, Asunsión Torrents, highlighted the growing trajectory of the organization after 15 years of operation, as well as the alliance with the Cooperative: "The impulse de Suara has ensured that this new CVI has arrived at an opportune moment to adapt it to current needs, from the social and health fields, devising new solutions for vulnerable people".
Barcelona City Council's Commissioner for Social Action, Sònia Fuertes, defended the possibility that people can stay at home, where "they have privacy and can enjoy autonomy". He also proposed that the application of innovation and digitization can directly contribute to "humanizing technology".
Finally, the general secretary of the Department of Social Rights of the Generalitat, Dolors Rusinés, spoke of the digital home as "an exemplary and reference center to respond to the growing needs of our society with innovative and technological solutions". At the same time, he noted that this project contributes to "making effective the integration of social care and health care" that is being worked on by the Government to "guarantee the care continuum and facilitate the transition between services".
Suara Cooperativa joined the Independent Life Association in April as a promoting partner in the organization. Together with Mutual Médica, she is in charge of promoting the association and its objectives, as well as creating new services for the benefit of people.
