How many people are homeless in Hospitalet de Llobregat? What are their realities and needs? To this end, the city council has organized a count that will take place on the night of November 20 to 21 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
The number of people experiencing homelessness has increased by nearly 25% in Spain in just 10 years, according to a report published last year by the National Institute of Statistics. 26% found themselves in this situation after losing their job and, for this reason, we want to shed light on the homelessness situation in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat to find out what are the realities and needs of these neighbors who sleep in the streets of the city.
To make this possible we are looking for volunteers to help us do this count, but what will you have to do? In teams, we will go through the different neighborhoods of L'Hospitalet counting the people who sleep on the street and we will invite them to participate in a survey. The only requirement to be able to participate in this count is to be of legal age.
In this municipality there is the Center d'Atenció d'Estanda Limitada (CREL), which has 46 places where it offers temporary accommodation, food, hygiene and support to people in a situation of homelessness.
However, the count will help us to shed more light on this reality in order to be able to improve the care and support of people in this situation of extreme vulnerability. In detail, it will serve to: measure the situation of homelessness in Hospitalet de Llobregat; expand the knowledge of the profile of the people who live in this situation in the city; obtain key information that allows to improve the approach to homelessness and consequently the effectiveness of the municipality's specific services and resources.
Want to join the count? You just have to fill in a short form that you will find in this link.
