In cooperatives we put people at the center, instead of productivity, which is why at Suara Cooperativa we have different projects such as Benestarum, Deixa’t Cuidar or Immersive Mindfulness for workers.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a quarter of the world's population will suffer from a mental health disorder, primarily symptoms such as stress, anxiety or depression. Another worrying fact, according to a report by Addeco, is that 70% of workers in Spain suffer from symptoms of burned out.

On the other hand, common work absences, not due to accidents or occupational illnesses, stood at 19.9 per 1,000 inhabitants in 2012; while in 2024 they increased to 53.3 per 1,000 inhabitants in 2024, according to data from the Ministry of Social Security.

Therefore, faced with a scenario marked by an increase in layoffs, companies must take a step forward and assume that they have a responsibility towards the well-being of workers.

A challenge that we have already put in the spotlight from the cooperative world, where we prioritize people instead of productivity. For this reason, at Suara Cooperativa we have different projects that ensure the well-being of people.

Benestarum

This is a digital platform where people can attend individual sessions with experts in different fields. This service, which began operating within the framework of the pandemic to offer physiotherapeutic, psychological and emotional support to workers, has expanded the range of services it offers to also include nutritional, personal training, tax advice, among others.

In addition, after verifying its benefits, it is also offered in other companies. Currently, this platform has more than 6,000 people who have the services of the platform at their disposal, where more than 2,000 virtual sessions have been held, both individual and group, with specialized professionals.

A recent study, based on the responses of more than 600 users from different companies, reveals that 75% of the people surveyed feel more cared for by their organization thanks to Benestarum, and more than half claim to have greater job satisfaction. In addition, 9 out of 10 say that the platform responds to their concerns and 75.5% declare that they have improved their general well-being.

Let yourself be cared for and Immersive Mindfulness

Also in order to look after working people, Suara Cooperativa has the Let yourself be cared for service, which includes in-person physiotherapy sessions at a reduced price.

Finally, with the aim of combating symptoms such as stress or anxiety, Suara Cooperativa offers immersive mindfulness sessions for workers.

This project, led by Marta Achutegui, a nurse with over 20 years of experience in psychiatry and who has worked at the Vall d'Hebron Hospital, helps reduce stress and anxiety, develop emotional resilience, as well as improve the quality of sleep, concentration and attention. This, without a doubt, also has benefits for the organization because it reduces absenteeism, generates a better work climate and increases both creativity and productivity, points out the expert.

“We need to put care at the center of our societies to improve people's health. For this reason, the involvement of companies is essential and that they are a key player in the care and well-being of workers. From the cooperative world, we are very clear about this,” recently pointed out Sergi Bota, director of the People Area at Suara Cooperativa.

And in your company, are you clear?
